About me

About me

A junior computer science student based in California, with experience in both Technology and Media.

Life events

I am a 21-year-old Egyptian student, majoring in Computer Science, currently enrolled at California State University, Long Beach (California) expecting to graduate with a B.S. degree in Computer Science in 2025.

In 2020, I started my college studies in France at EPITA Paris (School of Engineering and Computer Science). In 2022, I was part of an exchange program and did a semester abroad at Cal State LA. After that semester, I decided to transfer from France and continue my studies in California. I obtained my Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science from Orange Coast College in 2023.

Before starting college, I attended the Lycée Français du Caire (the French High School in Cairo).

Throughout my teenage years, I was a professional swimmer and had the chance to compete in many regional and national competitions in Egypt. Sports have been – and will always be – an essential part of my life.

In 2015, at the age of 13, I was luckily introduced to the Media and Communication field. After working as a production team member for 6 months, I was promoted to Assistant Producer at Al Kahera Wal Nas (Cairo Centric) TV Channel. Joining this field was a turning point in my life. The experience I gained and the love I had for the job made me continue as an Assistant TV Producer for 4 years.

To enrich my work experience and to do community service for my country, I had a 2-month internship at UNFPA Egypt (the United Nations Population Fund). I worked on the “Sports4Development” Program and in the Media and Communication department.

In 2017, I joined Mentor Arabia Organization. Mentor Arabia is a subsidiary of Mentor International, a non-profit organization founded by HM Queen Silvia of Sweden. The goal of Mentor is to prevent youth from dangerous activities such as drug and substance abuse. I attended several events with HM the Queen of Sweden and worked closely with her team during several “Mentor” events and activities in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

In 2020, I graduated from high school with highest honors. I then moved to France to pursue my career in Engineering and Computer Science. Since my early childhood, my main interest in everything around me was technology. That is why I knew that computer science was my best career option. I joined EPITA Paris which is one of the best computer science schools in France and in Europe.

In 2022, I had the chance to be part of an exchange program and to do a semester abroad at California State University, Los Angeles. This was a great opportunity to visit the US for the first time and to learn more about the American college system.

Programming Skills

I have been programming for almost 7 years now. I first learned HTML/CSS and SQL. In college, I learned Python along with a basic language called OCaml. Then, I learned C# and how it is used with 3D Game Engines such as Unity. And then, I learned C++, Java, C, Dart, Assembly Language 68k, and JavaScript.

I am very familiar with C++, Java, Python,  C#, Dart, and C. As for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Assembly Language, I am familiar with the languages but I do not use them very often.

I have also worked a lot with databases, I have used both relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, MongoDB, and Google’s Cloud Firestore.
